MEET YOUR COACHES
Emily Whelden, JD

Emily Whelden is an attorney-turned-coach who has trained extensively in ADHD coaching with Casey Dixon. As an attorney with ADHD, Emily experienced first-hand the lack of resources available in the legal field.

Before beginning her coaching career, Emily trained and worked for six years as an attorney doing legal guardianship work and approached that role very similarly to how a Coach would. To empower clients, Emily would share new perspectives that helped them identify their goals and values, learn to evaluate their circumstances, explore potential outcomes to their choices, and learn how to be comfortable with their decisions - all things she believes are fundamental to her role as an ADHD coach.

In addition to working with lawyers who have ADHD, Emily also enjoys working with high achievers who have a new ADHD diagnosis or are struggling with other health concerns in addition to their ADHD. As a former attorney who also has multiple chronic health issues, she understands how difficult it can be to manage life while dealing with ADHD.

Evan Monez, JD, LLM

Evan Monez is an attorney-turned-coach who has trained extensively with the ADD Academy (ADDCA) and is skilled in Dixon Life Coaching's unique approach to coaching high achievers with ADHD. She specializes in working with lawyers who have ADHD and other Executive Functioning challenges.

Prior to becoming an ADHD coach, Evan practiced as an attorney and focused primarily on trusts, estates, and tax planning for high net-worth individuals. While struggling as an Associate Attorney with a prominent Seattle law firm, Evan received her own ADHD diagnosis and discovered all of the ways that her go-to coping mechanisms were not working in her new professional environment.

After receiving her own life-changing ADHD coaching, Evan shifted her professional role from lawyer to coach. As both a coach and an attorney with ADHD, Evan understands the ongoing stigma of ADHD in the legal world and offers a safe, accepting, and non-judgmental space for lawyers with ADHD to turn for support. In her coaching, Evan helps high achievers with ADHD maximize their unique talents while building the right tools and systems to successfully manage their ADHD at work and in life.

According to the landmark ABA study on the state of mental health of U.S. attorneys, 12.5% of lawyers are reporting ADHD.

What People Are Saying
One thing this [The Focused Lawyer] group has taught me is that managing your ADHD is a powerful way that we express compassion for others.
I was having a huge block about addressing one client matter and put it off all day. Then had the idea to NODE this issue. I know we've been discussing doing that for weeks/months, but this was the first time I actively applied it, and it triggered something in me and I was able to address this communication. Still a somewhat uncomfortable matter, but at least I did it.
I especially like how you explained a skill you have that I aspire to have: knowing what will and won’t tax your executive functioning energy reserves, and thinking about that in advance, and planning for it.
Understand Your ADHD. Optimize Brain Function.
Maximize Talents.  Succeed.
Spend another 3 months focusing on your well-being and increase your overall
performance in every aspect of life.
